The Church and the Poor:
Missionaries of the Poor

The Church and the Poor:
Missionaries of the Poor

For Fr. Richard Ho Lung, the words of Jesus in the Eucharistic celebration are the center of his daily prayer and life’s work. Fr. Ho Lung is founder of the Missionaries of the Poor…more than 400 Brothers and Priests who live the Mass every day as they serve God’s poor and abandoned in Kingston, Jamaica…and around the world in countries, like Haiti, India, the Philippines, and Uganda. For these young men, life is simple. One filled with prayer and faith. For them, the Mass is not a ritual. It is a way of life…a way to bring Christ to the world. Each day, the Brothers care for children and individuals that have been the victims of sin and neglect. The Missionaries of the Poor live lives of poverty and obedience…sacrificing everything for the glory of God… centered in prayer, their lives are joyful service with Christ on the Cross as they bring Christ from the altar of the Mass into the world and into the hearts of God's people.

The Iron Man of Kansas - Glenn Cunningham

The Iron Man of Kansas - Glenn Cunningham

This documentary chronicles his story of survival from a fire as a child to his undying perseverance in the face of adversity. Doctors wanted to amputee his legs, because in their words “he would never be able to walk again.” Not only did he walk, Glenn Cunningham ran his way into the record books and into the hearts of all who knew him.

Turning Point: Crisis in the Holy Land

Turning Point: Crisis in the Holy Land

The Holy Land in Israel is often called the Land of Christ. For it is there that Jesus ministered to the people of His time, then was crucified and on the third day rose from the dead. The Holy Land, the location of virtually every major Christian holy site, is becoming anything but Christian. The Christian population is now below a meager three percent. This program looks closely at Christianity in the Holy Land and how Christians are gradually being forced to leave their homeland.

For Love of the Kids

Variety -The Children's Charity of Saint Louis:
For Love of the Kids

They are children like most children…eager about life…enthusiastic. Witnesses to what it means to live the moment. At the same time they are also children with special needs. Kids with physical and mental disabilities. They have hearts of courage and perseverance. But they live with diseases like cerebral palsy, spina bifida, scoliosis, and more. What that means is some have arms or legs that don’t work like most…eyes that cannot see…or ears that do not hear…brains that do not communicate effectively with the rest of their bodies. Milestones for these children are often measured in inches. Success is discovered in the little things of their lives…learning to say a new word, taking a step for the first time without assistance. Learning to draw or paint when most people would say it can't be done. Every spring for the last 40 years the St. Louis area community has come together to help these kids and their families. Tonight is that night.
